Do you take insurance?
I am not contracted with Medi-Cal or any insurance companies directly, however, I do offer a Superbill for clients who have Out-of-Network benefits. Usually, clients will pay full fee of $220 per session. Then submit Superbill to their insurance company for reimbursement. Insurances coverage varies. Usually HMO’s do not have an out of network option. Please contact your insurance company to review plan benefits. Ask do you have mental health coverage? Is there a deductible and has it been met? How many sessions can you have per calendar year? How much does your plan cover for an out-of-network provider? What is the coverage amount per therapy session? Is approval required from my primary care physician?
Do you offer telehealth, video sessions, or online sessions?
Yes, I use a secure HIPAA compliant platform to offer virtual counseling.
How long does anxiety therapy take?
The length of therapy varies for each individual, therefore difficult to predicate how long therapy will be. Most clients commit to counseling for 6 months and have routinely check-in with clients to measure progress.
How often do we meet?
I have found that meeting weekly improve my clients’ progress toward their goals. Therefore, I meet with my clients weekly. We will establish a set to time to meet each week and that will be our reoccurring weekly appointment. I do not offer bi weekly or monthly appointments.
Why do we meet so much?
Doing healing work at the level that will sustain long-term change takes time. It’s a commitment. Clients that invest in the time get better faster and with less relapse into old ways or patterns.
What can I expect to happen during our time together?
Generally speaking, during the first 1-3 sessions, we will do a thorough history, discuss current stressors, and establish specific goals for your therapy. The next 3-4 sessions, we will delve into current stressors that brought you to counseling. In the last part of therapy, we will do the deeper work to help heal the roots of problems that brought you to counseling. Sessions are 50 minutes.
What kind of results can I expect from anxiety counseling?
Initially, counseling can feel difficult because my clients are sharing their stressors and deep-rooted emotional pain. Over time, my clients feel less anxious, more in control of their thoughts and feeling, and less reactive in their relationships. Overall, they feel less triggered and are able to respond to situations. At the end of therapy, they feel more peaceful and aren’t limited by old ways of viewing themselves and their environment. They experience a new level of freedom and confidence.
What if it’s not working?
Typically clients will notice improvement during the first few sessions. If we’re not seeing improvement after a month of working together on a weekly basis, we can change our approach to focus on the main issues. If there is still no improvement, we will discuss potentially referring you to outside another therapist or outside resource, which is a better match.
What if I need to cancel our appointment or I get sick?
I have a 72 hour cancellation policy, so if you need to cancel, make sure you give me 72 hours notice to avoid paying the late cancellation fee, which is the full session rate. I offer phone and video sessions in case something happens last minute that prevents you from coming to your appointment.
